Reality Isn’t As Solid As You Think

Reality Isn’t As Solid As You Think

Most people move through life assuming something simple:

The world is solid.
What you see is what’s real.
Everything is fixed and happening exactly as it appears.

But the deeper science goes…

The less true that becomes.

Matter Is Almost Entirely Empty

Let’s start with something real and measurable.

Everything around you is made of atoms.

Your body.
Your phone.
The ground beneath your feet.

But atoms are not solid.

Atoms are about 99.9999999% empty space

That means almost everything you think is “solid”…

Is actually space.

Inside an atom:

  • there’s a tiny nucleus at the center

  • electrons exist in probability clouds around it

But the actual “stuff”?

Takes up almost none of the space.

If you removed all the empty space inside atoms…

Everything in your life would collapse down to almost nothing.

So Why Does Anything Feel Solid?

Because of electromagnetic interaction.

When you touch something, you’re not touching “solid matter.”

You’re feeling the repulsion between electron fields.

It’s force interacting with force.

That’s what creates the sensation of solidity.

So what feels dense…

Is actually structured energy interacting with itself.

At the Smallest Level… Reality Isn’t Fixed

Now go deeper.

When scientists studied subatomic particles…

They didn’t behave like objects.

They behaved like probabilities.

Before being measured, a particle doesn’t exist in one exact location.

It exists as a range of possible states.

Then something happens—

A measurement.

An interaction.

And suddenly…

It shows up in one place.
