What If Ascension Is Really an Expansion of Reality?
What
if we aren't going anywhere—what if we are becoming able to perceive more of
what has always been here?
When most people hear the word ascension,
they imagine movement.
Going upward.
Leaving the physical world.
Moving into another dimension.
Perhaps even disappearing from one
reality and appearing in another.
But lately, I have been wondering
whether we have misunderstood the direction entirely.
What if ascension isn't about going
somewhere else?
What if the dimensions we are trying
to reach aren't somewhere above us?
What if they are already here?
And what if ascension is actually an
expansion in our ability to perceive, receive and embody more of reality
than we currently can?
That possibility changes almost
everything.
What If Reality Is Larger Than What We Can Perceive?
Human beings experience reality
through an incredibly narrow biological window.
Our eyes detect only a small portion
of the electromagnetic spectrum.
Our ears detect only a limited range
of sound frequencies.
Outside those ranges, something
fascinating happens.
The information doesn't cease to
exist.
We simply stop perceiving it.
Radio waves can pass through the
room you're sitting in right now.
Wi-Fi signals can surround you.
Infrared and ultraviolet frequencies
can be present.
Yet you don't consciously see any of
them.
Their invisibility does not mean
their absence.
It means our biological equipment
isn't translating those particular signals into conscious perception.
That gives us an important
distinction:
There may be an enormous difference
between what exists and what we are currently capable of perceiving.
And that raises a much larger question.
Could consciousness have bandwidth
too?
Think About a Radio
Imagine an old-fashioned radio.
Dozens of stations may be
broadcasting simultaneously through the same room.
101.1 doesn't have to travel
somewhere else to become 104.3.
Both signals are already present.
What changes?
The receiver.
Turn the dial and suddenly an
entirely different stream of information becomes perceptible.
The previous station hasn't
disappeared.
You simply aren't tuned to it
anymore.
I keep returning to this analogy
when thinking about dimensions.
What if dimensions aren't primarily
different places?
What if they are different bands
of reality or consciousness?
Then perhaps what we call:
3D
4D
5D
and beyond
aren't floors in some enormous
cosmic building.
Perhaps they represent increasingly
expansive ranges of frequency, information, consciousness and experience—all
existing within a much larger reality.
And the question changes from:
“How do I get to another dimension?”
to:
“What determines which dimensions of
reality I can perceive and participate in?”
A Higher Dimension Could Be Here Without Being Seen
Geometry gives us a fascinating way
to imagine this.
Picture a two-dimensional being
living on a flat sheet of paper.
Its reality contains:
length + width.
Now imagine a three-dimensional
sphere passing through its world.
The 2D being could never perceive
the entire sphere.
First, it might see a tiny circle
appear.
The circle grows.
Then shrinks.
Then disappears.
From its perspective, something
seemingly impossible just happened.
But the sphere didn't magically
appear and vanish.
The being simply lacked access to
the additional dimension necessary to perceive the whole object.
Now turn the analogy toward us.
What if we are doing exactly the
same thing?
Perhaps we encounter only
cross-sections of a much larger reality.
Fragments.
Effects.
Moments.
Something that appears impossible
from within one dimensional frame might make perfect sense when viewed from the
larger one.
A tesseract, the
four-dimensional analogue of a cube, gives us another way of imagining this.
Just as a cube extends beyond a
square, a tesseract extends beyond the dimensional structure of a cube.
Perhaps reality works similarly.
Each dimension doesn't necessarily
replace the one beneath it.
The larger reality can contain and
interpenetrate the smaller one.
Which means another dimension may
not be somewhere else at all.
It may be right here, outside
our present range of perception.
What If the Human Being Is the Receiver?
This brings us back to something I
keep returning to.
Perhaps the human being is not
simply observing reality.
Perhaps we are receiving and
translating it.
The brain receives sensory
information.
The nervous system continuously
receives information from inside and outside the body.
The heart and brain generate
electrical activity.
Our cells communicate.
Our bodies respond to light, sound,
touch, vibration, chemistry and electromagnetic conditions.
We are constantly exchanging
information with our environment.
But what if this biological receiver
is capable of receiving something more?
What if consciousness itself extends
beyond the individual personality?
Perhaps the brain is not simply
producing everything we experience as consciousness.
Perhaps it also functions as an interface.
A translator.
A filter.
A receiver.
Think again about the radio.
The music isn't created by the
speaker.
The speaker translates information
into something we can hear.
What if our biological system does
something similar with consciousness?
Then changing the receiver could
change the amount of reality available to us.
And suddenly ascension looks very
different.
What If You Are Much Larger Than the Person You Think
You Are?
This is where my understanding has
changed most profoundly.
What if the person I know as me
is completely real...
but incomplete?
Imagine a much larger consciousness
expressing itself through multiple experiences.
Each expression has its own body.
Its own personality.
Its own relationships.
Its own memories.
Its own perspective.
And because each is immersed within
its particular experience, it naturally believes:
This is me.
But perhaps the incarnate
personality is only one expression of a much larger identity.
I think of this larger identity as
the Whole Self.
And variations of this idea appear
again and again in metaphysical teachings.
Dolores Cannon described a larger
Higher Self and simultaneous incarnational experiences.
Ashayana Deane described
progressively larger levels of identity—incarnate identity, Soul, Oversoul,
Avatar and Rishi—with multiple incarnational expressions existing within that
larger structure.
Lisa Renee likewise describes
multidimensional identity and the progressive integration of larger levels of
consciousness.
Different language.
Different systems.
But a fascinating common thread:
The personality may be an expression
of consciousness rather than the totality of consciousness.
And if that is true, ascension takes
on an entirely different meaning.
Maybe Ascension Isn't Becoming Something Higher
We often talk about becoming our Higher
Self.
But what if the Higher Self already
exists?
What if the Whole Self already
exists?
Then the human personality isn't
trying to manufacture a more evolved version of itself.
Perhaps what is occurring is:
integration.
More of the larger identity becomes
available to conscious awareness.
More information becomes
perceptible.
More of the Whole Self can be
expressed through the incarnate experience.
Perhaps ascension isn't:
the personality climbing upward
toward the Higher Self.
Perhaps it is:
the boundaries between the
personality and the larger Self becoming increasingly permeable.
The little self doesn't disappear.
Its reality becomes larger.
And suddenly another spiritual word
makes much more sense.
Remembering.
What If a “Download” Is Actually Remembering?
Many people describe suddenly
knowing something they were never consciously taught.
An insight arrives whole.
A solution appears.
A realization comes seemingly from
nowhere.
And sometimes it doesn't feel like
learning at all.
It feels like:
I already knew this.
We often call these experiences
downloads.
But within the Whole Self model,
perhaps something more interesting is happening.
What if information can move between
levels of the larger identity?
Something could feel as though it
came from beyond us because it came from beyond the conscious personality...
while still originating within the
larger field of Self.
Then perhaps:
receiving
and
remembering
are not opposites.
Perhaps they are the same process
viewed from different levels of consciousness.

How I Can Help
This understanding increasingly shapes the way I approach my Integrative Healing Sessions.
I don't see healing, embodiment and spiritual expansion as separate processes.
When the body is carrying chronic stress, emotional contraction, old protective patterns or energetic congestion, trying to reach a “higher vibration” can sometimes become another way of leaving ourselves.
My work may incorporate nervous-system regulation, massage and therapeutic touch, sound and vibration, energetic clearing, heart and Higher Heart work, grounding, breath, presence and multidimensional awareness, depending upon the individual.
The intention isn't to force an ascension experience.
It is to create conditions for greater coherence, openness, embodiment and connection.
Because perhaps we don't expand consciousness by abandoning the human receiver.
Perhaps we expand by helping the receiver become capable of expressing more of who we already are.
Perhaps healing allows more of the Whole Self to enter.
Perhaps 12-strand activation increases the bandwidth through which it can be received.
Perhaps the crystalline transformation allows the body to hold and conduct more of that frequency.
Perhaps resonance begins determining which layers and trajectories of reality remain available to us.
And perhaps that is what ascension has been pointing toward all along:
Not somewhere else.
Not someone else.
More reality.
More awareness.
More of the Whole Self embodied here.
The universe may not need to open.
We may be the ones opening.
